We are excited to announce that TT Global will be supporting the second phase of the GIGA School program (GIGA 2.0), a national initiative introduced by the Japanese government to advance digitisation in education among primary and secondary school students. GIGA, which stands for “Global and Innovation Gateway for All” aims to provide every Japanese student, 13 million of them across 35,000 schools, with a computer and high-speed internet access.
GIGA 2.0 was launched in July 2024 with the twin goals of extending the reach of the GIGA program to more students and updating the computers supplied to students during the first phase of the program in 2019. As an expert in global IT reuse, with unmatched capabilities across our global network, TT Global will manage the collection, refurbishment and distribution into emerging markets of the devices to be refreshed by schools over the next 18 months.
Ex education devices are an affordable way for families and students in emerging markets to become digitally enabled. TT Global is ideally positioned to provide an end-to-end solution and we will be instrumental in reducing the digital divide between emerging markets and the developed world.
